The SODAR DSDPA.90-64 is a small powerful acoustic sounder for wind and turbulence profiles in up to 48 height intervals (>5m) within typical height ranges of 15-800 m. DSDPA.90-64 offers outstanding reliability for your measurements in view of system availability and system performance in long term unattended routine measurements.
For the SODAR-computer powerful software tools are available for the system control, automatic data storage and further offline processing. Hard- and Software provide the possibility for remote access by Modem (GSM). Tools for data analysis and professional graphic visualisation including time series, profiles, contour plots and statistics are part of the system.
All outdoor antenna components are made from high durable weatherproof and light weight materials. The electronic units are easy to access minimising efforts for regular inspection or system diagnosis. Small size and weight of all components allow transportation in a mid size van. Installation is possible by two trained person within less 1 hour.
Conservative internal plausibility routines are performed on the instantaneous and the averaged spectra detecting and rejecting all data with insufficient signal quality. As a new feature an off-line data processing can be integrated to improve the data availability by evaluation of instantaneous data on means of cluster detection.

In case that routine measurements in extended heights ranges are required we recommend to use the long range version of DSDPA.90-24. This system DSDPA.90-64 consists of an larger acoustic antenna of 64 loudspeakers, larger acoustic enclosures, higher acoustic power, etc., but shows all other technical features of DSDPA.90-24. This system is not optimised in view of mobile applications but the installation can be done within a few hours at any sites. Transportation requires a van or trailer. So measurements at different sites can be easily organized.
| Frequency: |
1000 ... 3000 Hz, 1500 ... 2500 Hz recommended |
| Wind speed: | 0 - 35 m/s |
| Wind direction: | 0 - 360 degree |
| Vertical wind speed: | > +- 10 m/s |
| Operating temperature: |
- 30 ° C to + 55 ° C (all without pos. 3) + 5 ° C to + 45 ° C (indoor components, pos. 3) |
| Operating humidity: | 10 - 100 % (outdoor), 20 – 80 % (indoor) |
| Integration time: |
10 seconds or more or instantaneous according to the
signal repetition, increment 1 sec; for wind speed and wind direction, standard deviations of u-, v-, w-component 10 minutes or more are recommended |
| Number of gates: | adjustable, 1- 50 |
| Minimum measuring height | adjustable, ≥ 15 m, increment ≥ 1m |
| Height resolution: | > 5 m, < 500 m, adjustable in 1 m – increments values of more than 100 m are not very informative, typical values are 10 - 30 m; |
| Typical measuring height |
depends on atmospheric and site conditions, we define: 70 % availability (for wind speed and direction,30 m, 900 s, 50 dB stationary noise level, cluster algorithm for data evaluation): 500 - 800 m |
| Maximum measuring height | > 1000 m; can be theoretically extended up to several km, but successful measurements are not likely at such max. height due to the strong atmospheric attenuation of acoustic waves. |
| Transmission frequency: | adjustable within 1000 - 3000 Hz |
| Signal power: | max. 800 W (elect.), automatically adjusted |
| Antenna gain: | typ. 25 dB, dependant on frequency |
| Sensitivity of receiver: | 10-6 N/m2, dependant on frequency |
| Beam width: | typ. 5 -8 °, dependant on frequency |
| Qualifying: | according to german DIN 3786 (11), KTA1508 (nuclear power regularity) |
| Power consumption: | depends on pulse repitition rate 250 W |
Complete sets of operation parameter can be stored under up to 30 different user generated parameter set name. A complete parameter set is activated by entering such parameter set name. Various parameter set names can be entered also into a parameter name list of max. 30 names which will sequently activate the corresponding parameters sets. This list will be repeated after the last entry has been processed. See also „Measuring Variables“. In this way even complicated measuring modes can be developed easily.
Operating system WINDOWS 2000;
To set up a remote control with a modem the customer needs a second pc-station where the WINDOWS NT software "sodar control" is installed. If enabled you will connect via modem to the SODAR pc, independent of the type of the MODEM (line or GSM).
