Ultrasonic Anemometer

Metek's ultrasonic sensors uSonic (formerly: USA-1) have acquired wide acceptance as today's state of the art measurement technique for wind and turbulence. With uSonic Metek offers a whole family of sonic devices for measurement of 1D flows, 2D and 3D wind vectors, and turbulence. All uSonic sensors are made from stainless steel and acknowledged as robust tools for reliable long term operation and measurement campaigns, even in harsh environments. Customized versions are available, for instance the uSonic-1 Spinner which was developed for installation on wind turbine hubs. It offers real time wind directivity analysis allowing steering accuracy and turbine optimization far greater than with traditional methods. (Note: uSonic-1 Spinner is manufactured under license of Risoe DTU, National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy at the Technical University of Denmark).
