WSB Dresden

SODAR

Two mobile SODARs with self-sufficient energy supply and stand-alone power supply were provided to WSB-Neue Energien GmbH www.wsb.de for exploring candidate wind farm sites.

The WSB corporate group, having its headquarter in Dresden (Saxony), is one of the leading full-service provider for wind energy projects with international commercial activities (i.e.FRG,F,CZ,PL,RO). Almost 290 wind turbines with more than 460 MV have been installed by WSB with a value of investment of about 600 Mio EUR.

Real time data transmission via GPRS allows online remote monitoring of the systems`operation and inspection of data quality. The total power consumption is 45 W. The battery buffered power supply is sustained by a combination of solar panels and methanol fuel cells.

Snow cover of the loudspeakers can be removed by a remotely controlled heating device (additional 150 W). The system has been operating continuously at remote sites in Germany since December 2010 (including periods of heavy snow fall) without any need for maintenance.
